Why convert SVG to PNG?

SVG is the ideal format for logos, icons and illustrations: tiny, editable and razor-sharp at any size. But many places don't accept SVG: social networks, email clients, Microsoft Office, app stores, favicon generators, marketplaces and most upload forms. Converting to PNG gives you a universally supported image while keeping transparency.

Choosing the right size

UseRecommended width
Favicon source512 px
Social media profile picture400–1080 px
Open Graph / link preview image1200 px
App icon (iOS/Android source)1024 px
Email signature logo2× display size (e.g. 400 px for 200 px display)
Slides and documents1920 px
Print (300 DPI)inches × 300 (e.g. 4 in → 1200 px)

Because SVG is vector-based, exporting at a larger size never makes it blurry. It only makes the PNG file bigger.

Common issues and fixes

  • Missing text or wrong font. Fonts not installed on the viewer's system won't render. Convert text to paths (outlines) in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape.
  • Missing images inside the SVG. Linked images aren't loaded; embed them instead.
  • Blank output. Check that the SVG has a viewBox and visible fills.
  • Unexpected background. Transparent areas appear as a checkerboard in some viewers but are truly transparent.

Going the other direction? PNG to SVG traces raster images into vectors. Reduce PNG size with the Image Compressor, or convert to WebP with JPG to WebP.

Frequently asked questions

What width should I choose?

Use the size you'll display it at, multiplied by 2 for high-DPI (Retina) screens. A 256 px app icon, for example, should be exported at 512 px.

Why is my PNG blank or missing parts?

SVGs that reference external fonts, images or CSS files can't load them when rendered as a standalone image. Convert text to outlines and embed images in your design tool before exporting the SVG.

Does it keep transparency?

Yes. Areas without fill stay transparent in the PNG.

What if my SVG has no width or height?

SVGs that define only a viewBox are rendered at a default size and then scaled to the width you choose.

Are my images uploaded?

Most image tools run in your browser. Only Word→JPG, JPG→Word and JPG→HEIC send the file to our server, where it is processed and deleted right away.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Drop multiple files and download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Will converting reduce quality?

Lossless formats like PNG keep full quality. For JPG and WebP you can pick the quality level yourself.
