Frequently asked questions

What are macros?

Macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates and fat, the nutrients that provide calories. Protein and carbs provide 4 kcal per gram, and fat 9 kcal per gram.

What's the best macro split for weight loss?

The calorie deficit matters most for losing weight. A higher protein intake helps keep muscle and control hunger, so splits like 30–35% protein work well for many people. Choose a split you can stick to.

How is my calorie target set?

Your maintenance calories (TDEE) are estimated with the Mifflin-St Jeor formula and your activity level. 'Lose fat' subtracts 20%, and 'Build muscle' adds 10%.

Is keto safe?

A ketogenic diet can work for some people but isn't suitable for everyone, including people with certain medical conditions, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor before starting.

Are these calculators medical advice?

No. They give general estimates based on established formulas. Talk to a doctor, registered dietitian or qualified coach about your own health, diet or training.

Is my health information stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to a server or saved.

Can I use pounds and feet?

Yes. The calculators that need height or weight let you switch between metric (cm, kg) and imperial (ft, in, lb) units.
