Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a quotation and an invoice?

A quotation (or estimate) is sent before the work, to tell the customer what it will cost. An invoice is sent after, to request payment. Once a quote is accepted, you can turn its items into an invoice.

How long should a quotation be valid?

Usually 15 to 30 days, so prices don't become outdated if material or exchange rates change. Set the date in the “Valid until” field.

Is a quotation legally binding?

In many places, an accepted quotation can form part of a contract. Make your terms clear about what's included and how long prices are fixed, and get legal advice for large jobs.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Click Download PDF and choose “Save as PDF” in the print window.

Are these documents really free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you create.

Is my business data stored on your servers?

No. Everything you type stays in your browser. Your latest draft is saved only in this browser on this device, so it's there next time you open the page.

How do I save a PDF?

Click Download PDF and choose “Save as PDF” as the destination in the print window. This works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on computers and phones, and supports any language and currency symbol.
