Frequently asked questions

Which quality should I choose?

192 kbps is a good default for music and is indistinguishable from the original for most listeners. Use 128 kbps for speech, lectures and podcasts, and 320 kbps if you want the best possible MP3.

Does converting to 320 kbps improve the sound?

No. The MP3 can't sound better than the audio in the video. If the video's audio is low quality, a higher bitrate only makes a bigger file.

MP3 or M4A?

MP3 plays on absolutely everything. M4A (AAC) sounds slightly better at the same size and works on all phones and modern players. WAV is uncompressed and large, useful for editing.

Can I extract audio from a YouTube video?

This tool works on video files you have on your device. Downloading videos from YouTube is against its terms of service unless YouTube offers a download button, so only use videos you have the right to use.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Every tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm and your browser's own recording features. Your files never leave your device, which also means there's no upload wait.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time you use a conversion tool, your browser downloads the media engine (about 9 MB). It's then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

How big can files be?

Up to 1 GB. Processing speed depends on your computer: short clips take seconds, while long HD videos can take several minutes. A desktop browser is faster than a phone.

Is there a watermark or time limit?

No watermarks, no sign-up and no limits on how many files you process.
