Frequently asked questions

How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?

Copy the video's link from the address bar or the Share button, paste it above, and click Download under the size you want. The HD version is 1280 × 720.

Why is there no HD version for some videos?

YouTube only creates the 1280 × 720 thumbnail for videos uploaded in HD. Older or low-resolution videos have only the smaller sizes, which are shown instead.

Can I use downloaded thumbnails?

Thumbnails are the creator's work. It's generally fine to use them for personal reference, research or when discussing the video, but ask the creator before reusing them elsewhere.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Paste a Shorts link (youtube.com/shorts/…) and the thumbnail is found the same way.

Do I need to log in to my social accounts?

No. None of these tools connect to your accounts or ask for passwords. They work on the text and numbers you enter, in your browser.

Are the platform limits up to date?

They reflect each platform's published limits as of 2026. Platforms change their rules from time to time, so check the platform if a post is rejected.

Is anything I type saved?

No. Only small conveniences, such as your recently used emoji, are remembered in your own browser.
