About the WHOIS Lookup

Check a domain's registration details: its age, creation and expiry dates, the registrar it's registered with, its name servers and status. Data comes from the official registry, including PKNIC for .pk domains.

Key features

  • Domain age in years, months, days
  • Creation and expiry dates
  • Registrar and name servers
  • Domain status codes
  • Official RDAP and WHOIS sources
  • Works for .pk, .in, .co.uk and more

Find out who registered a domain, and when

A WHOIS lookup shows a domain's public registration record: when it was registered, when it must be renewed, which company it's registered through, and which name servers it uses.

Why check WHOIS?

  • Buying a domain: see when it expires and whether it's locked.
  • Checking a website before you shop: a shop domain registered last week is a warning sign.
  • Running your own site: make sure your domain won't expire by accident.
  • SEO research: see how established a competitor's domain is.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I see the owner's name and email?

Since GDPR in 2018, most registries and registrars hide personal contact details. You can usually contact the owner through a form on the registrar's website, or with the email listed for abuse reports.

Does domain age matter for SEO?

Not directly. Google says age itself isn't a ranking factor. Older domains often rank well because they've had years to earn links and content, not because of the date.

What happens when a domain expires?

Most registrars give a grace period of around 30 days to renew at the normal price, then a redemption period with a fee. After that the domain is deleted and anyone can register it.

What does 'client transfer prohibited' mean?

It's a lock the registrar sets to stop the domain being moved to another registrar without the owner's permission. It's normal and protects against domain theft.

Which domains are supported?

Most generic domains (.com, .net, .org, .info and new ones like .app) and most country domains, including .pk, .in, .ae, .co.uk and .de. A few registries offer no public WHOIS at all.

Are these network tools free?

Yes. All tools are free with no sign-up. To keep them fast for everyone, each visitor can run about 30 checks of each kind every five minutes.

Do you store the domains I check?

No. Lookups are run on demand and the results aren't saved. Your own IP address isn't stored either.

Where do the results come from?

DNS lookups query public resolvers (Cloudflare, Google and Quad9), WHOIS data comes from each registry's official RDAP or WHOIS service, and SSL and HTTP checks connect to the website directly from our server.

Can I check sites on my local network?

No. For security, our server only connects to public internet addresses, so localhost, 192.168.x.x and other private addresses are refused. The subnet calculator works with any address because it runs in your browser.
