About the Rotate & Flip Image

Turn sideways or upside-down photos the right way up, or mirror them horizontally or vertically. Works on many images at once, right in your browser.

Key features

  • Rotate 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise or 180°
  • Flip horizontally (mirror) or vertically
  • Batch rotate many images at once
  • Respects the photo's camera orientation (EXIF)
  • Keep the format or save as JPG, PNG or WebP
  • Private: processed in your browser

Turn photos the right way up

Fix sideways phone photos, scanned pages that came out upside down, or selfies that need mirroring. Choose a rotation and an optional flip, then process one image or a whole batch.

Rotation options

90° clockwiseTop edge moves to the right
90° counter-clockwiseTop edge moves to the left
180°Upside down
Flip horizontalMirror image (left ↔ right)
Flip verticalUpside-down mirror (top ↔ bottom)

A 90° rotation swaps the width and height: a 4000 × 3000 landscape photo becomes 3000 × 4000 portrait.

When to mirror an image

  • Selfies: front cameras often save a mirrored image; flip horizontally to make text read correctly.
  • Design: mirror an arrow or illustration to face the other way.
  • Printing on transfer paper (iron-on T-shirts) usually requires a mirrored image.

Crop after rotating, resize for the web, or rotate PDF pages instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my photo look sideways on some sites?

Phones often save photos unrotated and add an orientation tag (EXIF). Some websites ignore the tag. Rotating here writes the pixels the right way up, so the photo displays correctly everywhere.

What's the difference between rotating and flipping?

Rotating turns the whole image around its center. Flipping mirrors it, so text appears backwards after a horizontal flip.

Does rotating lose quality?

Rotations by 90° steps move pixels without resampling, so no detail is lost. Saving as JPG re-compresses the image slightly; choose PNG for a lossless copy.

In what order are rotate and flip applied?

The image is rotated first, then the rotated result is flipped.

Are my images uploaded?

Most image tools run in your browser. Only Word→JPG, JPG→Word and JPG→HEIC send the file to our server, where it is processed and deleted right away.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Drop multiple files and download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Will converting reduce quality?

Lossless formats like PNG keep full quality. For JPG and WebP you can pick the quality level yourself.
