Frequently asked questions

How many characters can a tweet have?

280 for standard X accounts. Links always count as 23 characters, and emoji and characters such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean count as 2. Premium subscribers can post longer posts.

What is the Instagram caption limit?

2,200 characters. Only about the first 125 characters show before the 'more' link, so put the most important words first.

What are the YouTube title and description limits?

Titles can be up to 100 characters and descriptions up to 5,000. Titles are often cut off in search results after about 60–70 characters.

Why does X count my text differently?

X counts characters by weight: most Latin letters count 1, while emoji and East Asian characters count 2, and any link counts as 23 regardless of its length. This counter applies the same rules.

Do I need to log in to my social accounts?

No. None of these tools connect to your accounts or ask for passwords. They work on the text and numbers you enter, in your browser.

Are the platform limits up to date?

They reflect each platform's published limits as of 2026. Platforms change their rules from time to time, so check the platform if a post is rejected.

Is anything I type saved?

No. Only small conveniences, such as your recently used emoji, are remembered in your own browser.
