Mouse Tester – Button, Scroll & Double-Click Test

Test your mouse buttons, side buttons and scroll wheel, and detect a faulty switch that double-clicks when you click once.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Runs in your browser, nothing uploaded

About the Mouse Tester

Check every mouse button, including back and forward side buttons, and the scroll wheel. The double-click check flags presses that come too close together, the classic sign of a worn switch.

Key features

  • Left, right and middle buttons
  • Back and forward side buttons
  • Scroll wheel up and down
  • Double-click problem detection
  • Time between clicks in milliseconds
  • Works with wired, wireless and gaming mice

Test every button and the scroll wheel

Click, double-click and scroll inside the test area. Each button lights up while held and shows how many times it has been pressed, including the back and forward side buttons on most mice.

Spotting a faulty switch

Click the left button normally 20–30 times. A healthy mouse shows a gap of about 100 ms or more between your clicks. If a single click registers twice, under 80 ms apart, it's flagged in red: a classic sign of switch "chatter".

Frequently asked questions

Why does my mouse double-click when I click once?

Usually a worn or dirty switch inside the mouse. As the metal contact wears, it 'bounces' and registers two clicks a few milliseconds apart. Fixes include cleaning, compressed air, replacing the switch, or using the warranty.

How does the double-click check work?

People can't click the same button twice in under about 80 milliseconds on purpose. Presses that close together almost always come from a faulty switch, so they're flagged.

My side buttons don't register. Is my mouse broken?

Not necessarily. Some mice need their software to map side buttons, and some drivers send them as keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse buttons. Check the manufacturer's software.

What does the scroll test show?

Each notch of the wheel counts as one scroll up or down. If scrolling down sometimes counts as up, or counts skip, the wheel encoder may be dirty or worn.

Are my camera and microphone recorded?

No. Audio and video are processed live in your browser and never uploaded. The only recording is the optional 5-second mic playback, which stays on your device and disappears when you leave the page.

Why does my browser ask for permission?

Browsers require your permission before any site can use your camera or microphone. You can revoke it at any time from the icon in the address bar.

Do these tests work on phones?

Most do: mic, webcam, speaker, screen, reaction time and click tests work on phones and tablets. The keyboard, mouse and gamepad testers need those devices connected.
