Frequently asked questions

Why is no text extracted from my PDF?

The PDF is probably a scanned image: the pages are pictures of text, not text itself. Text can only be extracted from PDFs created digitally (from Word, a browser, a design app and so on). Scanned documents need OCR (optical character recognition).

Will formatting and tables be kept?

No. The output is plain text, so fonts, colors and layout are dropped. Table cells come out as text lines. To keep formatting, use PDF to Word instead.

Why are some words joined or split oddly?

PDFs store text as positioned fragments rather than sentences. Unusual layouts, columns or custom fonts can lead to odd spacing. Most documents extract cleanly.

Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?

PDFs that need a password to open must be unlocked first.

Do you add a watermark?

No. The output files are clean and have no watermark.

Are my PDFs stored?

Merge, split, extract and remove run in your browser. Word/PowerPoint conversions are processed on our server and deleted immediately afterwards.

Is there a page limit?

No hard limit. Very large files may take longer depending on your device.
