About the URL QR Code

Turn any URL into a QR code that opens the page when scanned. Customize the colors and style, and download a high-resolution PNG or SVG.

Key features

  • QR code for any website, page or link
  • Adds https:// automatically if you forget it
  • Custom colors, dot styles and corner styles
  • Add your logo in the center
  • Download PNG (256–2048 px) or SVG for print
  • Static codes that never expire and need no account

A URL QR code opens a web page when someone points their phone camera at it. It's the fastest way to bridge print and digital: posters, menus, business cards, packaging, flyers, event badges, product labels and shop windows.

How to make one

  1. Paste your link, e.g. https://example.com/menu.
  2. Pick colors, dot style and corner style to match your brand.
  3. Optionally add your logo.
  4. Scan the preview with your phone to test it.
  5. Download a PNG for digital use or an SVG for print.

Design tips that keep codes scannable

DoDon't
Dark code on a light backgroundLight code on a dark background (some scanners fail)
High contrast (e.g. navy on white)Low contrast (yellow on white)
Keep the quiet zone (margin) around the codeCrop the margin off
Test with iPhone and AndroidAssume it works
Print at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in)Print tiny codes on large posters far from viewers

Size rule of thumb: a code should be about 1/10 of the scanning distance. A poster read from 2 m needs a code of at least 20 cm.

Shorter URLs scan better

Long URLs with tracking parameters create dense codes with tiny dots. Keep the URL short, or point to a short page on your own domain. Avoid public link shorteners for printed material: if the shortener shuts down, your codes break.

Tracking scans

Static codes don't count scans. To measure them, add UTM parameters to the URL (e.g. ?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr) and check the results in Google Analytics.

Share contact details with a vCard QR Code, Wi-Fi access with a WiFi QR Code, or start a chat with a WhatsApp QR Code.

How to use the URL QR Code

  1. Fill in the details you want to encode.
  2. Customize the colors, dot style and size.
  3. Scan the preview with your phone to test it.
  4. Download the QR code as PNG or SVG.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They're static: the URL is encoded directly in the pattern, so the code works as long as the link itself works. There's no redirect service that could shut down.

Can I change the link after printing?

Not with a static code. If the destination may change, link to a page you control (e.g. yoursite.com/menu) and update that page instead.

PNG or SVG for printing?

SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without blur, which makes it ideal for print. Use PNG at 1024 px or more for documents and digital use.

Will adding a logo stop it from scanning?

Usually not. Adding a logo automatically switches to the highest error correction (30%), which tolerates the covered area. Always test with a couple of phones.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They are static QR codes with the data encoded directly, so they work forever.

Can I use them commercially?

Yes. The QR codes you generate are yours to use anywhere, including in print.
