Smart word splitting for code

Programming cases first split text into words, recognizing spaces, punctuation and existing camelCase boundaries:

  • user first name → userFirstName
  • userFirstName → user_first_name
  • XMLHttpRequest → xml-http-request
  • Order ID 42 → ORDER_ID_42

Each line is converted separately, so you can paste a whole list of field names.

Title Case rules

Small words such as a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, in, of, on, or, the, to stay lowercase unless they start the title, following common headline styles like AP and Chicago.

Count your text with the Word Counter, remove accents for slugs with Remove Accents, or wrap identifiers in quotes with the String Builder.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?

Title Case capitalizes the main words ("The Lord of the Rings"); Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence ("The lord of the rings"), as in normal prose.

Which case should I use for variable names?

It depends on the language: camelCase for JavaScript/Java variables, PascalCase for classes and C# methods, snake_case for Python and Ruby, kebab-case for CSS classes and URLs, CONSTANT_CASE for constants and environment variables.

Does Title Case handle names like McDonald or iPhone?

No automatic tool handles every brand and name. Review proper nouns after converting.

How do I fix text typed with Caps Lock on?

Choose Sentence case: it lowercases everything and capitalizes the first letter of each sentence.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. All text tools run locally in your browser.

Do these tools support Unicode?

Yes. They handle Unicode text, including emoji and accented characters.
