Free QR codes for every purpose
QR codes connect the physical and digital worlds: a scan with any phone camera opens a website, saves a contact, joins a Wi-Fi network or starts a chat. Our generators create static QR codes. The data is stored in the code itself, so it never expires, needs no account, and keeps working even if our site disappeared tomorrow.
Which QR code should I create?
| Goal | QR type | What happens on scan |
|---|---|---|
| Send people to a website or menu | URL | Opens the link |
| Share your contact details | vCard | Offers to save the contact |
| Let guests join your Wi-Fi | WiFi | Connects automatically |
| Start a WhatsApp conversation | Opens a chat with your number | |
| Get emails about a specific topic | Opens a pre-filled email | |
| Get phone calls | Phone | Offers to call your number |
| Show a short message offline | Text | Displays the text |
Design for reliable scanning
- Contrast is king. Use a dark code on a light background.
- Leave the quiet zone. Keep the white margin around the code.
- Size for distance. Make the code about 1/10 of the scanning distance (20 cm for a poster read from 2 m), and at least 2 cm on business cards.
- Logos are fine. Adding a logo automatically switches to the highest error correction (30%).
- Less data, bigger dots. Shorter URLs and messages produce simpler, faster-scanning codes.
- Always test on both iPhone and Android before printing.
Error correction levels
| Level | Recovers | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| L | ~7% damage | Clean digital displays |
| M | ~15% damage | General use (default) |
| Q | ~25% damage | Printed materials, outdoors |
| H | ~30% damage | Logos, rough surfaces (used automatically with a logo) |
PNG or SVG?
- PNG: screens, documents, social media, presentations. Choose 1024 px or larger for print documents.
- SVG: professional printing, signage and large formats. It's a vector, so it stays sharp at any size.
Static vs. dynamic QR codes
Static codes (what we create) store the data directly: free forever, private, and no tracking. Dynamic codes point to a redirect service, which lets you change the destination and count scans, but they stop working if the service or your subscription ends. To change a destination later, point a static code at a page you control and update that page.
