What affects RPM

  • Topic: finance, business and tech videos attract higher-paying advertisers than entertainment.
  • Audience location: viewers in countries with larger ad markets earn more per view.
  • Season: ad prices usually rise in the fourth quarter (October–December).
  • Video length: longer videos can show more ads.
  • Format: Shorts earn much less per view than long videos.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

It varies widely: often from under $1 to $10 or more per 1,000 views (RPM) for long videos, depending on the topic, where viewers live, the time of year and how many views show ads. Shorts usually earn much less.

What's the difference between CPM and RPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share. RPM is what you actually earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and including views with no ads. RPM is the number to use for estimating earnings.

How much of the ad revenue does a creator get?

In the YouTube Partner Program, creators receive 55% of the ad revenue from their long-form videos. For Shorts, revenue is pooled and creators receive 45% of their share.

When can a channel earn money from ads?

After joining the YouTube Partner Program, which requires meeting subscriber and watch-time or Shorts-view thresholds and following YouTube's policies.

Do I need to log in to my social accounts?

No. None of these tools connect to your accounts or ask for passwords. They work on the text and numbers you enter, in your browser.

Are the platform limits up to date?

They reflect each platform's published limits as of 2026. Platforms change their rules from time to time, so check the platform if a post is rejected.

Is anything I type saved?

No. Only small conveniences, such as your recently used emoji, are remembered in your own browser.
