How it works

Unicode includes thousands of characters from many alphabets and symbol sets. Some of them happen to look like rotated Latin letters: ɐ (turned a), ǝ (turned e), ɹ (turned r), ʇ (turned t). The tool:

  1. Replaces each character with its rotated lookalike.
  2. Reverses the character order (and the line order), so reading it with your device flipped gives the original text.

Reverse text without flipping it with Reverse Text, change capitalization with the Case Converter, or repeat a message with the Text Repeater.

How to use the Upside Down Text

  1. Type or paste your text into the input box.
  2. Choose the options you want.
  3. The result updates instantly as you type.
  4. Copy the output or download it as a .txt file.

Frequently asked questions

How does upside-down text work?

There's no 'upside-down font'. The tool swaps each character for a Unicode lookalike that appears rotated (e.g. a → ɐ, e → ǝ) and reverses the order, so it reads correctly when the screen is turned 180°.

Will it work on Instagram and TikTok?

Yes, in bios, captions and comments, because the characters are standard Unicode. A few characters may display differently depending on the device's fonts.

Why do some characters stay the same?

Characters that look the same upside down (like o, s, x, z) or have no good Unicode equivalent are left unchanged.

Is upside-down text accessible?

Not very. Screen readers may read the substitute characters strangely. Use it for fun, not for important information.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. All text tools run locally in your browser.

Do these tools support Unicode?

Yes. They handle Unicode text, including emoji and accented characters.
