Cut a video down to what matters

Remove the shaky start, the long silence at the end, or pull a short clip out of a long recording to share. Play the video, mark the start and end, and save the clip.

How to choose the exact moment

  1. Play the video and pause where the clip should begin.
  2. Click Set to current position under Start.
  3. Play on, pause at the end point, and set the End the same way.
  4. Fine-tune with the sliders if needed; the selected length is shown below.

How to use the Trim Video

  1. Drop your file into the box, or click to choose one.
  2. Choose the options you want; the defaults suit most files.
  3. Click the button. The first time, the media engine (about a 9 MB download) loads once and is then cached.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between fast and frame-accurate?

Fast mode copies the video without re-encoding, so it's instant and keeps the exact original quality, but it can only start a clip at a keyframe, which may be a second or two before the point you picked. Frame-accurate mode re-encodes the clip so it starts exactly where you chose.

Why does my fast-trimmed clip start a little early?

Compressed video stores a full picture only every few seconds (a keyframe); the frames in between depend on it. Fast mode has to start at a keyframe. Use frame-accurate mode when the exact first frame matters.

Can I cut out a part from the middle?

Trim keeps one continuous section. To remove a middle part, trim the two pieces you want to keep separately.

Does trimming reduce quality?

Fast mode doesn't change quality at all. Frame-accurate mode re-encodes at a high quality setting; the difference is very hard to see.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Every tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm and your browser's own recording features. Your files never leave your device, which also means there's no upload wait.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time you use a conversion tool, your browser downloads the media engine (about 9 MB). It's then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

How big can files be?

Up to 1 GB. Processing speed depends on your computer: short clips take seconds, while long HD videos can take several minutes. A desktop browser is faster than a phone.

Is there a watermark or time limit?

No watermarks, no sign-up and no limits on how many files you process.
