Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my running pace?

Divide your time by the distance. 25 minutes for 5 km is a pace of 5:00 per km (8:03 per mile).

How are race times predicted?

With Riegel's formula, T2 = T1 × (D2 ÷ D1)^1.06, which accounts for slowing down over longer distances. Predictions assume you've trained for the longer distance.

What pace do I need for a sub-2-hour half marathon?

About 5:41 per km or 9:09 per mile. For a sub-4-hour marathon, about 5:41 per km as well; for sub-3:30, about 4:59 per km.

How do I enter times?

Use hours:minutes:seconds or minutes:seconds, for example 1:45:30 or 25:00. A single number is read as minutes.

Are these calculators medical advice?

No. They give general estimates based on established formulas. Talk to a doctor, registered dietitian or qualified coach about your own health, diet or training.

Is my health information stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to a server or saved.

Can I use pounds and feet?

Yes. The calculators that need height or weight let you switch between metric (cm, kg) and imperial (ft, in, lb) units.
