About the Compress PDF

Shrink large PDFs so they fit email limits and upload forms. Choose a lossless optimization that keeps text selectable, or stronger levels that recompress each page as an optimized image, which is ideal for scans.

Key features

  • Five levels from lossless to extreme
  • Up to 90%+ smaller for scanned and image-heavy PDFs
  • Lossless mode keeps text selectable
  • Tells you when a PDF can't be made smaller
  • Batch compress several PDFs
  • Private: files never leave your browser

Make PDFs small enough to send

Email services often limit attachments to 10–25 MB, and upload forms for jobs, visas, universities and government portals frequently cap files at 1–5 MB. Compress your PDF in seconds, right in your browser, without uploading sensitive documents anywhere.

  3. Split a long document with Split PDF and send it in parts.
  4. Convert to grayscale with Grayscale PDF if color isn't needed.

Frequently asked questions

Which compression level should I choose?

Start with Recommended (120 DPI): it shrinks scanned and photo-heavy PDFs dramatically and stays easy to read. Use Light for documents with fine print or detailed images, and Strong or Extreme when you must meet a strict size limit.

Will the text still be selectable?

With Lossless, yes. The other levels rebuild each page as an optimized image, which gives the biggest savings but makes text unselectable, much like a scan. Keep the original if you need to copy text later.

Why didn't my PDF get smaller?

Text-only PDFs exported from Word or Google Docs are usually already compact. The tool tells you when the result wouldn't be smaller instead of giving you a bigger file.

Is there a file size limit?

Files up to 200 MB can be processed, limited by your device's memory. Large scans with hundreds of pages may take a minute.

Do you add a watermark?

No. The output files are clean and have no watermark.

Are my PDFs stored?

Merge, split, extract and remove run in your browser. Word/PowerPoint conversions are processed on our server and deleted immediately afterwards.

Is there a page limit?

No hard limit. Very large files may take longer depending on your device.
