Let people email you with one scan
An email QR code opens a new message in the scanner's mail app, already addressed to you and optionally with a subject and message filled in. It turns "email us at…" into a single tap, which is great for feedback, enquiries, support requests and sign-ups.
How it works
The code contains a mailto: link:
mailto:hello@example.com?subject=Product%20enquiry&body=Hi%2C%20I'd%20like%20to%20know%20more%20about...
Every major email app on iPhone and Android (Apple Mail, Gmail, Outlook) understands it.
Great uses
| Where | Pre-filled subject example |
|---|---|
| Product packaging | "Feedback on [product]" |
| Restaurant tables | "Booking enquiry" |
| Event posters | "Register me for [event]" |
| Equipment labels | "Fault report: machine #42" |
| Real-estate signs | "Viewing request for 12 High St" |
| Classroom handouts | "Question about assignment 3" |
Tip: a specific subject line lets you filter and route incoming messages automatically.
Best practices
- Use a shared inbox (e.g. hello@ or support@) rather than a personal address for printed material.
- Keep the body short, just a prompt the sender can complete.
- Test on iPhone and Android before printing.
- Mention what happens next to the code: "Scan to email us".
