  • Keeps the photo the right way up
  • Batch clean many photos at once
  • JPG, PNG and WebP
  • Adjustable JPG quality
  • Private: processed in your browser

Strip hidden data before you share

Photos carry metadata you can't see: where and when they were taken, which device took them, and sometimes its serial number. Remove all of it in one step before posting photos online, sending them to strangers, or publishing them on your website.

When to remove metadata

SituationRisk
Selling items photographed at homeGPS reveals your address
Dating and marketplace profilesLocation and routine
Photos of childrenWhere they live or go to school
Publishing on your website or blogLocation, device and editing history
Sending files to clients or journalistsDevice serial numbers and dates

How it works

  1. The browser decodes each photo and applies its orientation.
  2. The pixels are drawn onto a fresh canvas.
  3. A new JPG, PNG or WebP file is saved, containing image data only.

Nothing is uploaded, so even sensitive photos stay on your device.

Phone settings

You can also stop location tagging at the source: on iPhone, Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → Never; on Android, open the Camera app settings and turn off location tags.

Check what's inside a photo with the EXIF Viewer, blur faces and plates, or compress the cleaned photos.

How to use the Remove EXIF Data

  1. Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or click Choose files.
  2. Set any options, such as quality, page size or page ranges.
  3. Click the convert button. Processing happens right in your browser.
  4. Download each result individually, or all of them as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is removed?

All embedded metadata: EXIF (camera, settings, dates, GPS), XMP and IPTC fields, thumbnails and maker notes. The image is redrawn from its pixels into a brand-new file.

Will the photo look different?

No visible change. The photo's orientation is applied first, so it stays upright. JPGs are re-saved at the quality you choose (90% by default), which is visually identical.

How can I check that metadata was removed?

Open the cleaned file in our EXIF Viewer. It should report that no metadata was found.

Are color profiles kept?

Images are saved in standard sRGB, which displays correctly everywhere. Photos in wide-gamut profiles may look very slightly less saturated on wide-gamut screens.

Are my images uploaded?

Most image tools run in your browser. Only Word→JPG, JPG→Word and JPG→HEIC send the file to our server, where it is processed and deleted right away.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Drop multiple files and download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Will converting reduce quality?

Lossless formats like PNG keep full quality. For JPG and WebP you can pick the quality level yourself.
