Plan your monthly investments
A SIP lets you build wealth gradually by investing a fixed amount every month. This calculator projects how your SIP could grow, and how much more you'd have with an annual step-up.
SIP formula
FV = P × [((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i)
- P: monthly investment
- i: expected monthly return (annual % ÷ 12 ÷ 100)
- n: number of monthly installments
Example: 5,000 per month at 12%
| Period | Invested | Estimated value | Gains |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 years | 3,00,000 | 4,12,432 | 1,12,432 |
| 10 years | 6,00,000 | 11,61,695 | 5,61,695 |
| 15 years | 9,00,000 | 25,22,880 | 16,22,880 |
| 20 years | 12,00,000 | 49,95,740 | 37,95,740 |
The effect of a step-up
5,000 per month at 12% for 20 years:
| Annual step-up | Estimated value |
|---|---|
| 0% | ≈ 50 lakh |
| 5% | ≈ 69 lakh |
| 10% | ≈ 99 lakh |
Benefits of SIPs
- Rupee-cost averaging: you buy more units when prices are low and fewer when high.
- Discipline: automatic monthly investing builds a habit.
- Start small: many funds accept SIPs from small amounts.
Illustrative projections only, not investment advice. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read scheme documents carefully.
