Saving tips

  1. Pay yourself first: set up an automatic transfer on payday.
  2. Use a separate account so the money isn't spent by accident.
  3. Save windfalls such as bonuses, tax refunds and gifts.
  4. Track progress monthly and adjust if your income changes.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I save each month?

Enter your goal, current savings, interest rate and deadline. The calculator works out the monthly deposit that, with interest, reaches the goal on time.

What interest rate should I use?

Use the rate of the account where you'll keep the money: a high-yield savings account rate for short-term goals, or a conservative return estimate for long-term investments. Use 0% to ignore interest.

How big should an emergency fund be?

A common guideline is 3–6 months of essential expenses, or more if your income is irregular.

Why does starting earlier help so much?

More months means smaller deposits and more time for interest to compound. Saving for 5 years instead of 3 cuts the monthly amount by roughly 40%.

Are these calculators accurate?

They use standard, published formulas (for example the amortization formula for loans, Mifflin-St Jeor for calories and the U.S. Navy method for body fat) and are tested against known reference values. Results are estimates for planning, not professional advice.

Is my data stored?

No. All calculations run in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server.

Do the calculators work on my phone?

Yes. Every calculator is designed for mobile, tablet and desktop.
