Frequently asked questions

How is the due date calculated?

With Naegele's rule: 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period, adjusted if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days. From a conception date, it's 266 days.

How accurate is the due date?

It's an estimate. Only about 4–5% of babies arrive on their due date; most arrive within two weeks either side. An early ultrasound often gives a more accurate date.

How do IVF due dates work?

For a day-5 blastocyst transfer, the due date is 261 days after transfer; for a day-3 embryo transfer, it's 263 days.

Why is pregnancy counted from the last period, not conception?

The period date is usually known while the conception date usually isn't. Gestational age therefore includes about two weeks before conception.

Are these calculators accurate?

They use standard, published formulas (for example the amortization formula for loans, Mifflin-St Jeor for calories and the U.S. Navy method for body fat) and are tested against known reference values. Results are estimates for planning, not professional advice.

Is my data stored?

No. All calculations run in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server.

Do the calculators work on my phone?

Yes. Every calculator is designed for mobile, tablet and desktop.
