The classic passage
The standard opening is:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
It comes from a passage by Cicero, rearranged and shortened. "Lorem" itself is a fragment of the Latin word dolorem (pain).
Tips for realistic mockups
- Match the real length. If product descriptions will be 30 words, test with 30 words, not three paragraphs.
- Test extremes. Try very short and very long text to make sure the layout doesn't break.
- Use real text where it matters. Headlines and calls to action shape a design, so draft them early.
- Check other languages. German and Finnish text is often 20–30% longer than English.
