- Split every N pages (e.g. every 2 pages)
- Custom ranges like 1-3, 4-6, 7-
- Multiple outputs downloaded together as a ZIP
- No quality loss: pages are copied, not re-rendered
- Runs in your browser; nothing uploaded
Split a PDF into smaller files
Large PDFs are awkward to email, upload and share. Sometimes you only need to send one chapter, one invoice from a batch, or one person's pages from a combined scan. Split PDF breaks a document into separate files by page, by fixed-size chunks or by custom ranges.
Three ways to split
| Mode | Example | Result for a 10-page PDF |
|---|---|---|
| Every page | 10 single-page PDFs | |
| Every N pages | N = 2 | 5 PDFs of 2 pages each |
| Custom ranges | 1-3, 4-6, 7- | 3 PDFs: pages 1–3, 4–6, 7–10 |
Common uses
- Scanned batches: one scan containing many invoices or forms becomes one file per document.
- Upload limits: portals that reject files over 5 or 10 MB.
- Sharing chapters: send only the relevant section of a manual or report.
- Printing: split very long documents into manageable print jobs.
- Bulk statements: separate monthly statements from an annual export.
How it works
Your PDF is opened in the browser with pdf-lib, the requested pages are copied into new documents, and the results are zipped together if there are several. The original file is never modified or uploaded.
Tips
- Check page numbers first. Range numbers are physical page positions (1 = first page), which may differ from the numbers printed on the pages.
- Need just one set of pages? Extract PDF Pages lets you pick pages visually from thumbnails.
- Need to delete a few pages? Use Remove PDF Pages.
