Convert color PDFs to black and white
Printing color documents on a monochrome printer can turn colored text and charts into faint, hard-to-read shades. Converting to grayscale first shows you exactly how the page will print, and saves expensive color ink.
Quality levels
| Level | DPI | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 110 | Reading on screen, smallest files |
| High | 150 | Most printing |
| 220 | Fine text, technical drawings |
Tips
- Check colored text: light colors (yellow, light green) become very pale gray.
- Charts that rely on color differences may need labels to stay readable.
- Compress afterwards with Compress PDF if you need an even smaller file.
