Convert Word documents to PDF

PDF is the standard for sharing finished documents: it looks the same on every device, can't be accidentally edited, and is required by most job portals, universities, courts and government services. Word to PDF converts DOC and DOCX files into clean PDFs that keep your formatting.

Supported formats

FormatExtension
Microsoft Word 2007+.docx
Microsoft Word 97–2003.doc
OpenDocument Text.odt
Rich Text Format.rtf
Plain text.txt

Why convert Word to PDF?

  • Consistent appearance: fonts and layout don't shift between computers, phones or Word versions.
  • Professional submissions: CVs, proposals, invoices and assignments are expected as PDF.
  • Smaller attachments: PDFs are often smaller than DOCX files with images.
  • Harder to edit: recipients can read and print but not easily change the content.
  • Long-term archiving: PDF is a stable, widely supported format.

Tips for perfect conversions

  1. Use common fonts (Calibri, Arial, Times New Roman, Georgia) or embed fonts in Word: File → Options → Save → Embed fonts in the file.
  2. Accept tracked changes and delete comments before converting, unless you want them visible.
  3. Check page breaks in Word's Print Layout view.
  4. Compress large images in Word (Picture Format → Compress Pictures) for a smaller PDF.

Privacy and security

Word documents can't be converted reliably in a browser, so this tool uses LibreOffice on our server. Each upload is processed in an isolated temporary directory and deleted immediately after conversion. Nothing is stored, logged or shared.

Combine the result with other PDFs using Merge PDF, convert back with PDF to Word, or turn pages into images with Word to JPG.

How to use the Word to PDF

  1. Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or click Choose files.
  2. Set any options, such as quality, page size or page ranges.
  3. Click the convert button. The file is processed securely on our server.
  4. Download each result individually, or all of them as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Will my formatting be preserved?

In most documents, yes: text, tables, images, headers, footers and page breaks convert faithfully. Complex layouts, SmartArt or uncommon fonts may differ slightly.

What about fonts I don't have on the server?

Missing fonts are replaced with metric-compatible alternatives where possible (e.g. Liberation fonts for Arial and Times New Roman). Embed fonts in Word for the closest match.

Are my documents stored?

No. Each document is converted in an isolated temporary folder and deleted as soon as the PDF is returned to you.

Can I convert .pages files?

Not directly. Export from Apple Pages as Word (.docx) first, then convert.

Do you add a watermark?

No. The output files are clean and have no watermark.

Are my PDFs stored?

Merge, split, extract and remove run in your browser. Word/PowerPoint conversions are processed on our server and deleted immediately afterwards.

Is there a page limit?

No hard limit. Very large files may take longer depending on your device.
