About the String Builder

Turn a list of lines into the string you need. Add a prefix or suffix, wrap each line in quotes, join with commas, or apply a template like INSERT ... VALUES ('{line}').

Key features

  • Add a prefix and suffix to every line
  • Wrap lines in single quotes, double quotes or backticks
  • Join lines with any delimiter (\n for new lines)
  • Templates with {line} and {n} placeholders
  • Skip empty lines automatically
  • Live output as you type

Turn lists into the string you need

Developers, analysts and marketers constantly reshape lists: IDs into a SQL IN (...) clause, names into a JavaScript array, URLs into HTML links, or keywords into a comma-separated tag list. String Builder does it in seconds without a spreadsheet or script.

Examples

Starting from:

apple
banana
cherry
GoalSettingsOutput
SQL listWrap ', join , 'apple', 'banana', 'cherry'
JS array itemsWrap ", join , "apple", "banana", "cherry"
HashtagsPrefix #, join space#apple #banana #cherry
Numbered listTemplate {n}. {line}, join \n1. apple …
SQL insertsTemplate INSERT INTO fruit VALUES ('{line}');, join \none statement per line
HTML listTemplate <li>{line}</li>, join \n<li>apple</li> …

Typical workflows

  • Database queries: paste IDs exported from a spreadsheet and build WHERE id IN (...).
  • Code: build arrays, enums or switch cases from a list.
  • Marketing: create hashtag sets or comma-separated keyword lists.
  • Bulk URLs: add a domain prefix to a list of paths.
  • Data loading: generate one INSERT or UPDATE statement per line.

Frequently asked questions

What do {line} and {n} mean in a template?

{line} is replaced by the current line's text and {n} by its line number (starting at 1). The template overrides the prefix, suffix and quote options.

How do I put each result on its own line?

Type \n in the 'Join with' box. \t inserts a tab.

Can I build a SQL IN clause?

Yes. Wrap in single quotes, join with ', ' and add the prefix 'IN (' and suffix ')' around the result, or just paste the quoted list between parentheses.

Are quotes inside my lines escaped?

No. Lines are inserted as-is. Escape quotes yourself if your target language requires it.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. All text tools run locally in your browser.

Do these tools support Unicode?

Yes. They handle Unicode text, including emoji and accented characters.
