Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEX to RGB?

Split the six digits into three pairs and convert each from hexadecimal: #FF8800 → FF = 255, 88 = 136, 00 = 0, so rgb(255, 136, 0). Type any code in the box and every format updates automatically.

What is the eyedropper?

In Chrome and Edge, the eyedropper button lets you pick a color from anywhere on your screen, such as a logo or website. Other browsers hide the button because they don't support it yet.

What contrast ratio do I need?

WCAG AA requires at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (about 24 px, or 19 px bold). AAA requires 7:1 for normal text.

Why does CMYK look different when printed?

Screens mix light (RGB) and printers mix ink (CMYK). The CMYK values here are a simple conversion; for professional printing, use your printer's color profile.

Are the random results fair?

Yes. The wheel, random number generator, coin flip and dice use your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with unbiased sampling, so every outcome is equally likely.

Do these tools work offline or on my phone?

They run entirely in your browser and work on phones, tablets and computers. Once a page has loaded, most tools keep working without a connection.

Is anything I type saved on your servers?

No. The notepad saves notes only in your own browser's local storage, and nothing else you enter is stored.
