Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a WhatsApp voice note to MP3?

Save or export the voice note (it's usually an .opus or .ogg file), drop it here and choose MP3. Voice notes sound fine at 96 or 128 kbps.

What's the difference between lossy and lossless?

MP3, M4A and OGG are lossy: they discard sounds you're unlikely to hear to make files much smaller. WAV and FLAC are lossless: they keep everything. FLAC is compressed lossless, about half the size of WAV.

Will converting MP3 to FLAC improve quality?

No. Converting can never restore detail that a lossy format already removed. Convert to lossless only from lossless sources, or when software requires a WAV or FLAC file.

Which format works on iPhone?

MP3, M4A (AAC) and WAV all play on iPhone. OGG and FLAC play in many apps but not in every built-in player.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Every tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm and your browser's own recording features. Your files never leave your device, which also means there's no upload wait.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time you use a conversion tool, your browser downloads the media engine (about 9 MB). It's then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

How big can files be?

Up to 1 GB. Processing speed depends on your computer: short clips take seconds, while long HD videos can take several minutes. A desktop browser is faster than a phone.

Is there a watermark or time limit?

No watermarks, no sign-up and no limits on how many files you process.
