Record your screen from the browser

Make a quick tutorial, show a bug to a developer, record a presentation with your voice, or capture an online class. Choose a single tab, an app window or your whole screen, and add your microphone for narration.

Tips for clear recordings

  • Close notifications and unrelated tabs before you start.
  • Share a single window or tab rather than the whole screen when you can; it's sharper and more private.
  • Use a headset microphone to avoid echo.
  • Do a 10-second test recording to check the sound.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on phones?

No. Mobile browsers don't allow websites to record the screen. Use your phone's built-in screen recorder instead: it's in the Control Centre on iPhone and in the quick settings on most Android phones.

Why is there no sound from my computer?

Browsers can share sound from a single tab, and on Windows from the whole system. When choosing what to share, tick 'Share tab audio' or 'Share system audio'. On a Mac, only tab audio can be shared.

How do I stop the recording?

Come back to this tab and click Stop, or click Stop sharing in the bar your browser shows. The recording is ready to play back straight away.

WebM or MP4?

WebM plays in browsers, VLC and YouTube and needs no processing. Convert to MP4 for WhatsApp, iPhone, PowerPoint and most editors.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Every tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm and your browser's own recording features. Your files never leave your device, which also means there's no upload wait.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time you use a conversion tool, your browser downloads the media engine (about 9 MB). It's then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

How big can files be?

Up to 1 GB. Processing speed depends on your computer: short clips take seconds, while long HD videos can take several minutes. A desktop browser is faster than a phone.

Is there a watermark or time limit?

No watermarks, no sign-up and no limits on how many files you process.
