How to use the Voice Recorder

  2. Speak; the meter shows your level. Pause and resume as needed.
  3. Click Stop, then play back your recording.
  4. Download it, or click Save as MP3. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The audio is recorded by your browser and stays in it until you download it. Closing the tab without downloading discards it.

Why can't the site hear my microphone?

Your browser needs permission. Click the microphone or lock icon in the address bar and allow access, then try again. Also check that the right microphone is selected in your system's sound settings.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, in Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone. Keep the screen on while recording, as some phones stop recording when the screen locks.

How can I make my recording sound better?

Get closer to the microphone, record in a small room with soft furnishings, turn off fans and air conditioning, and use a headset microphone if you have one.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Every tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm and your browser's own recording features. Your files never leave your device, which also means there's no upload wait.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time you use a conversion tool, your browser downloads the media engine (about 9 MB). It's then cached, so later conversions start straight away.

How big can files be?

Up to 1 GB. Processing speed depends on your computer: short clips take seconds, while long HD videos can take several minutes. A desktop browser is faster than a phone.

Is there a watermark or time limit?

No watermarks, no sign-up and no limits on how many files you process.
