Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel stays black on every color because it gets no power. A stuck pixel stays one color (often red, green or blue) because one or more of its sub-pixels is always on.

Can a stuck pixel be fixed?

Sometimes. Rapidly flashing colors over the area for several minutes, or very gently massaging the spot with a soft cloth while the screen is off, can free a stuck pixel. Dead pixels usually can't be fixed.

How many dead pixels are acceptable?

It depends on the manufacturer's pixel policy. Many allow a small number before offering a replacement, while some guarantee zero. Check your warranty, and test a new screen within the return period.

Is it dust or a dead pixel?

Wipe the screen gently first. Dust and smudges move when cleaned and look blurry; a dead or stuck pixel is a sharp dot that stays exactly in place.

Are my camera and microphone recorded?

No. Audio and video are processed live in your browser and never uploaded. The only recording is the optional 5-second mic playback, which stays on your device and disappears when you leave the page.

Why does my browser ask for permission?

Browsers require your permission before any site can use your camera or microphone. You can revoke it at any time from the icon in the address bar.

Do these tests work on phones?

Most do: mic, webcam, speaker, screen, reaction time and click tests work on phones and tablets. The keyboard, mouse and gamepad testers need those devices connected.
