Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin

Temperature conversion trips people up because the scales start at different zero points. This converter applies the correct formulas, so you can check weather forecasts, oven settings, body temperature or lab values without mental math.

Formulas

ConversionFormula
°C → °F°F = °C × 9/5 + 32
°F → °C°C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
°C → KK = °C + 273.15
K → °C°C = K − 273.15
°F → KK = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15

Quick mental estimate

For a rough °C to °F conversion, double it and add 30: 20 °C ≈ 70 °F (exact: 68 °F). It works best for everyday weather temperatures.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9/5 (1.8) and add 32. For example, 25 °C × 1.8 + 32 = 77 °F.

How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9. For example, (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 37 °C.

At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?

At −40. −40 °C is exactly −40 °F.

Why can't Kelvin be negative?

0 K is absolute zero, the lowest possible temperature (−273.15 °C), so the Kelvin scale has no negative values and isn't written with a degree sign.

Are these calculators accurate?

They use standard, published formulas (for example the amortization formula for loans, Mifflin-St Jeor for calories and the U.S. Navy method for body fat) and are tested against known reference values. Results are estimates for planning, not professional advice.

Is my data stored?

No. All calculations run in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server.

Do the calculators work on my phone?

Yes. Every calculator is designed for mobile, tablet and desktop.
