How to convert mils to microinches
1 mil is equal to 1,000 microinches, and 1 microinch is equal to 0.001 mils. To convert, multiply by the conversion factor:
microinches = mils × 1,000
microinches = mils ÷ 0.001Example: convert 15 mil to µin: 15 × 1,000 = 15,000 µin.

About the mil
The mil (or thou) is one thousandth of an inch (25.4 µm). It's used for wire diameters, plastic sheet thickness and circuit board tracks.
Symbol: mil · 1 mil = 0.0000254 m · Category: Imperial & US customary
About the microinch
A microinch is one millionth of an inch (25.4 nm). It's used to specify surface roughness in machining.
Symbol: µin · 1 µin = 2.54 × 10⁻⁸ m · Category: Imperial & US customary
