How to convert microns to gigameters
1 micron is equal to 1 × 10⁻¹⁵ gigameters, and 1 gigameter is equal to 1 × 10¹⁵ microns. To convert, multiply by the conversion factor:
gigameters = microns × 1 × 10⁻¹⁵
gigameters = microns ÷ 1 × 10¹⁵Example: convert 1 µ to Gm: 1 × 1 × 10⁻¹⁵ = 1 × 10⁻¹⁵ Gm.

About the micron
The micron is the older name for the micrometer (one millionth of a meter). It's still common in filtration, semiconductor manufacturing and particle sizes.
Symbol: µ · 1 µ = 0.000001 m · Category: Metric (SI)
About the gigameter
A gigameter is one billion meters. The Moon orbits about 0.38 Gm from Earth, and the Sun's diameter is about 1.39 Gm.
Symbol: Gm · 1 Gm = 1,000,000,000 m · Category: Metric (SI)
