Frequently asked questions

What is the tasbih after prayer?

A widely practiced Sunnah is to say SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times (or 33 times followed by La ilaha illallah once) after each obligatory prayer.

How do I use the digital tasbih?

Choose a dhikr and target, then tap the large circle, or press Space or Enter on a keyboard. When you reach the target the round is counted, your phone vibrates and the counter starts again.

Is my count saved?

Your running total, target and chosen dhikr are saved in your browser on this device. The current count and rounds reset when you leave the page.

Can I use it without looking at the screen?

On phones, a short vibration confirms each count and a longer one marks the end of a round, so you can keep count with the screen in your hand.

How are prayer times calculated?

Astronomically, from the sun's position at your location, using established methods such as the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi, the Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura and ISNA. The method and Asr rule default to your country's convention and can be changed.

Why might times differ from my mosque?

Mosques may use a different method or add a few precautionary minutes, especially for Fajr, Maghrib and Isha. Follow your local mosque if its timetable differs.

Are Hijri dates exact?

They follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. Where months begin with local moon sighting, the actual date can be a day later.
